Visa

Many participants may need a Russian visa to attend the conference. Here is a useful wiki page that describes types of visas and related formalities. We strongly encourage the participants to apply for a tourist visa, which seems to be the fastest and easiest option.

For most countries, an application for this type of visa requires a document called "tourist invitation" or the like. To get this, you may need to contact a tourist agency authorized to issue this type of invitations. There are plenty of them, and they are easily searchable online.

More information about visa regulations and procedures can be found at the consular sections of the Russian embassy web-sites in your countries. Here are a few most frequent options:

If a tourist visa does not work for you for any reason, we will prepare an academic invitation for you from Lomonosov Moscow State University. With such an invitation, you can submit an application for what is called a humanitarian visa (see the above links for detail). For that type of invitation, we will need to collect a bit of your personal information as well as information about your travel. To submit this information, please fill out the following form.

Processing academic invitations can take a long time, unfortunately. For that reason we kindly request you to submit the information before June 25. After that date, we cannot guarantee that the invitations will be issued on time. Please note you will be asked to submit a scanned (not photographed) copy of the data page of your passport.

Please don't hesitate to contact us if we may be of any help.

Registration

The workshop registration form is available here. The registration fee will be 2000 RUR/30 euro/$35 for students and 2800 RUR/40 euro/$45 for others. Please specify your registration category while registering. A reduced fee may be applicable to students from less wealthy countries. Please contact us to find out more.

The fee is to be paid upon arrival.

The deadline for registration is August 15, 2019.

Conference dinner

The conference dinner will be held on September 27, 2019 (2500RUR/37 euro/$40). Please specify if you are interested in attending while registering.

Housing

The university offers 20 dormitory rooms for WAFL 15 participants at around $30 per person per night from September 25 until September 29 (no reservation is possible for other dates). This will be a single room accommodation with the bathroom shared between two rooms. The price may be subject to minimal adjustment, which the participants will be informed about in advance.

Reservations will be assigned on the first come first serve basis. Please specify if you are interested while registering.

Unfortunately, there are not many hotels in the campus area. In terms of location, Universitetskaya hotel (гостиница Университетская) may be the optimal choice (about a 20 min walk to the conference site; or a short ride on a bus plus a 5-7 min walk).

If you want to look for a different accomodation, we suggest that you double-check that it is not very far from the conference place, since transportation in Moscow can easily take quite a lot of time. For instance, if you are using booking.com, you may want to restrict your search by selecting "Ramenki" (Раменки) district or Gagarinski (Гагаринский) district in the "Simplify your choice" panel. Another option would be to look for an accomodation located close by to any Red line metro station, and take the metro to the University Red Line station.

Information for the participants who stay at the MGU dormitory

The campus map can be downloaded here.

The MGU dorm is located in Section E of the main MGU building. To get there, please follow this map, which shows the direction from the Universitet (Университет) metro station (about 10 min. walk). If you take a taxi, ask the driver to drop you off at the Lebedeva St. (улица Лебедева ['ulʲicə 'lʲebʲidʲivə]) right in front of the main building. When you reach the security post shown on the map, you will be met by one of the organizers who will help you out with all the check-in formalities.

Please note that your dorm room has to be paid for in cash, in Russian rubles only. If you need to get cash, there are a number of ATMs in the MGU main buiding.

Please let us know your approximate arrival time in advance.

The conference site is 5 min away from the dorm.

Wi-Fi access will be available at the conference site.
